ENGINEERING DOCUMENTS / CONFIGURATION RELEASE
String pot calibration, drawings & CAD requests.
Define the evidence you need before committing to a sensor. Match the drawing, electrical specification and measurement record to the quoted configuration.
Request model-specific documents →Five documents that answer different engineering questions
CAD and test records are issued for a defined configuration and revision. Public download files are listed only after that association is verified. Use the request below for the exact files needed by your project.
| Document | What to review | Release basis |
|---|
| 2D mounting drawing | Housing envelope, hole centers/threads, cable exit, fitting and connector clearance | Exact RFQ reference and drawing revision |
|---|
| 3D STEP envelope | Assembly fit, mounting orientation, cable path and reserved travel | Released model, units, revision and representation limits |
|---|
| Electrical specification | Element resistance or active circuit, supply limits, output load and pin schedule | Selected output and termination; not a generic color chart |
|---|
| Linearity / calibration record | Serial number, reference, positions, readings, error method and uncertainty | Agreed measurement scope and traceability requirement |
|---|
| Itemized quotation | Sensor / kit, accessories, quantity, setup, documentation and delivery scope | Configuration, destination and commercial acceptance |
|---|
MECHANICAL FIT
Ask for the envelope before detailed assembly work
Give the original model, mounting plane and available space. Compare hole coordinates, thread forms, cable axis, eye fitting and connector clearance. A STEP envelope helps check interference, but its visual resemblance does not establish electrical or dynamic equivalence.
- Specify inches first and identify any metric dimensions on the installation.
- Request the released drawing revision and verify the file units in your CAD system.
- Include full-extension and return positions, cable routing and mechanical reserve.
SIGNAL INTEGRATION
Connect from the selected circuit’s terminal drawing
Passive dividers, regulated voltage transmitters and current loops need different supplies and connections. Include the DAQ / ECU / PLC input, available excitation, reference ground and input impedance.

Define the linearity test before comparing percentages
You can attach the original-model label, mounting drawing or STEP envelope to the RFQ below. Identify the revision and units; files are sent with your request to the SPS inquiry mailbox.
A useful request states the working span, acceptance limit and error definition. Independent linearity, end-point linearity and system error are different quantities; a percentage without its method is incomplete.
| Planning step | Information to include in the requested report |
|---|
| Identify | Sensor serial number, configuration, drawing revision, resistance / output and supply. |
|---|
| Reference | Reference equipment, calibration status, method, temperature and mounting orientation. |
|---|
| Measure | Agreed stroke positions; 0%, 25%, 50%, 75%, 100% is one possible planning grid, not an issued test result. |
|---|
| Repeat | Extension / retraction readings and repeat runs where hysteresis or repeatability matters. |
|---|
| Evaluate | Reference line, FS definition, deviations, uncertainty, acceptance decision and responsible reviewer. |
|---|
Request traceability as a measurement requirement
Traceability concerns a measurement result and the documented calibration chain behind it. When your laboratory requires traceability, specify the reference, uncertainty and report scope in the RFQ. NIST does not endorse SPS products, and no NIST approval is claimed here. Read NIST’s traceability policy and FAQ.
Specify immersion and cable cycling separately
For a wet installation, include depth, time, fluid and connector conditions, then add the cable motion and contamination profile. Housing ingress evidence and dynamic mud / water cycling answer different questions. State the acceptance conditions you need in the released record.
