STRING POTS BY SERIES / SPS-DSP
String Potentiometers with Digital Display Kits
Request a sensor and panel display as one matched measurement chain. Specify the measured stroke, input type, display scaling, peak hold and relay requirements before calibration.

BEFORE THE DRAWING IS RELEASED
Three checks for your configuration
- 12–24V DC or 110V AC meter variant and exact sensor input
- Inch/mm scaling, decimal places, zero and span calibration
- Peak hold, two limit relays and required alarm behavior
Original model review: Position readout applications including Red Lion PAX-style panels. Comparison candidates require mechanical and electrical verification; no universal drop-in equivalence is implied.
ACTIVE OUTPUT CONNECTIONS
Match the circuit to your output.
For a conditioned three-wire voltage model, connect the rated supply, common and signal to the designated terminals. For a two-wire 4–20mA model, the transmitter is in series with the loop supply and receiver.
For a 0.5–4.5V ratiometric option, confirm whether the specified model requires a regulated 5V supply. Never connect an ECU power bus by assumption. Display kits need a matched meter input and a separate power review.
THREE WIRES. ONE POSITION SIGNAL.
Passive voltage-divider wiring reference
A passive string potentiometer uses three electrical connections. The wiper voltage follows string travel as a proportion of the excitation voltage.
Ideal relation: Vout ≈ Vexc × x / L. At 50% travel and 5V excitation, an ideal zero-offset output is 2.5V.
Illustrative colors only. Confirm the exact model pinout, maximum excitation and power rating. Do not apply 24V unless the specified unit permits it. Conditioned voltage and two-wire current-loop models need their own wiring diagram.
